This rock is a meteorite from Mars, and was born 4.5 billion years ago. After being
ejected from Mars, it traveled around the sun in space for 16million years before landing on Earth in Antarctica 13,000
years ago. However, age isn't the only impressive thing about this rock; ALH84001 is thought by some to contain
evidence of life on Mars. (1)
The idea that this meteorite gives us evidence of extraterrestrial life is no small claim, and requires
a lot of proof.
